Creative League Season Two Review
Posted on Wed 06 Jul 2011
As we approached the end of season one, it was quite obvious that a season two was needed and that an expansion to accomodate four new agencies had to be planned. We all know that the excitement of a promotion/relegation battle ups the competitive nature of games, so it was decided to split the league into two divisions of six teams. Unfortunately that meant two teams being relegated in the inaugral season; PushON and Sons of CTI.
As it proved, PushON and CTI were to continue their form into season two as they again finished at the foot of the table. The three new teams that won promotion to Division One were Great Fridays, SEO Next and Evolutia.
Division One again saw DFC take the championship title, only this time without the 100% record, as they dropped three points to Code Computerlove in their penultimate game. Being that season three brought another four teams into the ever-expanding Creative League, and that it would now consist of eight teams in two leagues, Return On Digital were saved from relegation despite propping up the table.
The seasons surprise team were Tecmark, who continued their form from the second-half of the first season and put up a very brave fight for runners-up spot, ultimately losing out to Code on the last day of the season. Full results and final tables can be found here.
Season three has seen further expansion as five new teams signed up (FirstFound, AC Building Blocks, MEC Global, (Melbourne) Serverlovers and Mediacom North) and one unfortunately drop out (KMP Digitata).
Yesterday saw the presentation awards for season two, and DFC pick up the shield for the second year in a row. Code took their runners-up medal, and Great Fridays took the Division Two trophy.
Players of the Season for each team were as follows:
DFC - Rik Weber
Code - Dave Wyatt
Tecmark - Scott Horne
Building Blocks - Jonathan Williams
KMP - Alistair MacLeod
Great Fridays - Luke Byrne
CTI - Bill Thornton
PushON - James Sims
