Manchester creative’s boot up for charity

Posted on Sun 01 Aug 2010

Forget the Big Chip, Fresh and Chip Shop awards, this October sixteen of Manchester’s finest creative agencies will battle it out to be crowned champions…of the football pitch.

To raise much-needed funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the likes of Bliss, KMP, Code & Love Creative will limber up for the first ever Manchester Digital’s Creative Cup 2010 - a 5-a-side football event at Manchester’s all weather Powerleague pitch.

With everything to play for, Sunday 10th October will see creative teams abandon their cherished Macs in favour of shorts, shin pads and, more than likely, rain, to raise over £1000 for the Cancer Care charity.

To ensure the Creative Cup reaches its goal of £1000, organiser and creative freelancer, Ian James Cox is calling on Manchester’s digirarti to put their money where their Tweets are and sign up to for the charitable challenge.

Ian commented: “We have five agencies signed up to date and we’re looking for a further eleven to don their boots and raise money for charity. It’ll be a fun day and a great opportunity for Manchester’s creatives to get together in a format away from the usual black tie awards at which we usually meet.”

“I regularly play football with a few agencies in the city and honestly it’s the best networking you can do. I’m looking forward to getting everyone down on the day, playing a few matches and doing our bit for charity by raising money for Marie Curie.”

“I’m also really interested to see who takes the trophy home. We’re so competitive in the design industry, the agency who lifts the silverware on the day is anyone’s guess.”

Entry to the Manchester Digital’s Creative Cup 2010 is £120 per team (£90 entry and a £30 team donation), with all money raised going directly to Marie Curie. Donations will also be collected on the day.

Kick off will be at 11am Sunday 10th October.
